After the storm
Denver-area hail season runs from April through September, with the worst storms usually arriving in May, June and July. A single storm can drop golf-ball hail on one block and nothing on the next, which is why so many homeowners don’t realize they’ve been hit until a neighbor’s roof is being replaced.
Most insurance policies give you one to two years to file a claim for storm damage, but the sooner the roof is documented, the cleaner the claim. Damage that sits for a season starts to look like wear, and adjusters can and do deny claims on that basis.
What a Summit storm inspection looks like
An inspector walks the entire roof and marks a 10-foot-by-10-foot test square on each slope, counting hail hits the same way an adjuster will. We photograph bruised shingles, cracked mats, dented vents and flashing, and collateral damage on gutters, screens, fences and siding. You get the full report whether or not you hire us.
If there’s a claim worth filing, we walk you through the call to your carrier. When the adjuster schedules the visit, one of our claims specialists meets them on the roof. This matters. An adjuster who walks the roof alone can miss slopes, undercount hits or forget code-required items like ice-and-water shield and drip edge. We make sure the scope is complete the first time.
Supplements and what you actually pay
Insurance estimates often leave out items that the roof can’t legally be built without. When that happens we file a supplement with photos and code citations, and the carrier releases the additional funds. Your cost is your deductible, period. We never inflate a scope to pad our side, and we never discount yours.
Emergency tarping
If a storm opened up your roof, call us now. We keep crews on call during hail season for emergency tarps and temporary repairs, and most carriers reimburse the cost as part of the claim.
